How it works

Step 1

Write your sentence

Describe the short film you want to make in one sentence, 200 characters maximum. Then tell us your name, country, and pay the US$25 entry fee.

Step 2

Entries pool and are judged

All entries are scored on Premise Strength, Producibility, and Originality by the FilmFore curation panel. Cycles require at least 40 paid entries.

Step 3

Winner receives the award

The highest-scoring pitch wins. The prize pool is announced publicly. Winners are contacted directly and paid within 14 business days.

What makes a great pitch sentence?

One sentence. 200 characters. It should make us feel something, want to watch, and believe you can make it. The best pitches are specific, not vague. They name a character, a world, a tension, or a consequence.

Examples of strong pitches
"A retired coral reef photographer returns to document the bleaching of the reef where her daughter drowned."
"A mother in Lagos sells her son's prized possessions while he sleeps, convinced he'll never wake up."
"Two strangers meet at a memorial for a war that only one of them remembers."
What to avoid: Don't write "A film about loneliness" or "A story of hope and redemption." Be concrete. Name what happens, to whom, and what's at stake.

Entries are processed when a cycle opens.

Minimum entries apply. Each cycle requires at least 40 paid entries to proceed. If this threshold isn't met, all entry fees are refunded in full and the cycle is cancelled. No exceptions.
